English Rose Names

South Pacific Roses is proud to be a grower of a wide range of popular roses including those early varieties bred by the English rose breeder David Austin.

For many years these roses have been sold using names you may recognise. Only roses grown under licence from David Austin Roses in the UK are allowed to use those names.

However, anyone who grows roses is allowed to use the international denomination for that breed. For David Austin’s roses, this name usually begins with the letters AUS meaning Austin and ending with some descriptive name like “Blush” or “Gold”.

We are proud to be an independent grower of quality roses. We identify the roses we sell using their international denominations.

“A rose by any other name, would smell as sweet.”

To assist you in identifying the rose you may know by another name, we have compiled the table below, listing the names used by David Austin for each breed.
